I apologize to those of you who got a friend invitation from me on Facebook.
I spent two minutes there, decided that it sucked and deactivated my account again.

Main reason:
I had only entered my name and my email address and they found at least 16 potential friends/ people I know. That's just not kosher. I didn't allow Facebook to go through my Gmail contact information (I assume that's were they got the info from) & I feel that if I want friends I can look for them myself. After two pages of 'finding friends' I could enter more info about myself.

Even Hyves is not that intrusive.

School is getting harder and harder. We have genetics, microbiology, biochemistry & biology right now. Biochemistry & genetics are going to be a problem, the other subjects shouldn't be. We also have to take care of some of the school's animals the next few weeks. They have goats, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs, but my class was lucky so we got the rats. :/ I wish we had the goats they are fun. Rats are relatively low maintenance though, but because they're official testing animals there are a lot of laws and regulations concerned with them.

Oh check the genetics internet toolbox thingie:

Today I checked the X-men Origins: Wolverine dvd in the shop and discovered they misspelled Hugh's last name as 'Jackmann' on the cover. Seriously, how dumb can you be?

I watched the first three episodes of Dexter. dutchxfan recommended the series to me a long time ago already and I felt like checking it out last week. Not sure if I like it though. I'll have to see more to form an opinion.

Nation X #1 will have a Kurt & Logan story. I have a Kurt & Logan drabble too. It's not finished yet though. I want it done before Marvel publishes theirs :)
Horror Vacuum? Yeah I'll be working on that too. It's just that school is taking up a lot of time right now & inspiration doesn't come easy at my parent's place.

Oh and I really like Necrosha so far :)

Friday I went to the Green Day concert at Ahoy, Rotterdam. To say it was a great show would be an understatement. From all the shows I've seen (3x Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters (@Lowlands), Live (@Lowlands), Krezip, 3x Di-rect (by accident @festivals :P ), Kane(@festival), & Within Temptation (@festival)) this was definitely the best. I love how the band interacted with the crowd. Billy Joe Armstrong pulled a total of four people on stage and even let one of them sing a complete song!
The travel was really stressful though. Probably not so stressful for normal people, but for me it was terrible. I hate the public transport especially to places I don't usually go. Lots of unexpected things can happen and I can't deal with unexpected things.
We survived though. Jeniene was so excited that it was totally worth it.
She had never been to Rotterdam or had traveled such a long distance by train. When we arrived at Rotterdam she said: Wow this is so cool, it's like New York or something! (The huge glass buildings are what gave her that idea I think.) At the concert itself she jumped all over the place, screaming her lungs out for Billy Joe, lol!

This clip was filmped by someone on the sceond ring, we had seats on the first ring below him/her.
<lj-embed id="33" />

Saturday I went to the Walibi World Halloween Fright Night with my colleagues from the shelter. We had a lot of fun. They're a crazy bunch of people!

Needless to say I was exhausted and slept in till 2 o'clock on sunday. I'm still not completely recovered, but tomorrow I'm going to visit Loes & Anne (Homunculus) in Nijmegen and stay over for the night. Thursday my sister and I celebrate our birthdays for our families. Friday I celebrate my birthday for friends & saturday we'll be playing Dungeons & Dragons. In between that I have to work on my school projects.

Vacation you say? Really?

I've been neglecting this journal & my flist for which I'm very sorry :(

Truth is; there's not much to say. I'm busy with school and I'm looking for a place to live on my own. I'm not sure yet to look for that place in Kampen or in Leeuwarden, but I've signed up in both cities. Leeuwarden would be nice because it's where I go to school, so less traveling. Kampen would be nice because I can easily keep working at the shelter, go to the Fantast & have family close by.

That's it actually...
I hope to see you soon with something more substantial to say :)

PS. to you non-dutchies: Friesland, the northern province of which Leeuwarden is the capital, is a whole new world. People are completely different from those in Nijmegen (or Kampen) and they also have their own language, which vaguely resembles Dutch with a hint of Danish I guess. I knew this of course, but to actually hear them talk like that in the halls at school is really cool :)

<lj-embed id="32" />

My first week of my new study Animal management is almost over and while it's exhausting, it's also a lot of fun so far.
Because I'm doing the shortened 'track' so to speak (because of my former education) I'm currently doing an extra second year course on top of the regular freshman courses. The extra course 'People, Planet, Profit' is built around a big project, namely constructing a fictional company for a fictional client. Our client is a British animal welfare organization who wants to built a shelter for the adoption of Spanish stray dogs. We have to figure out legislation, financing, sustainability, feasibility, etc. In short; find out if and how this client will succeed in doing this project. Interesting but a lot of work.
For another course we have to investigate the reintroduction of the European Otter in the Netherlands. I think that'll be fun!

Waking up at 6 am everyday isn't that much fun though, so I will be looking for a dorm-room/ apartment in Leeuwarden a bit more actively.

I haven't talked to you about comics for a while now. How awful of me ;)

I decided tonight(with some help on twitter) to quit Wolverine: Origins. Why? Because it's crap. The story is terribly uninteresting and bad (even though it deals with Logan's past, or rather; it retcons Logan's past) and the art is not that special either.

X-force on the other hand is AWESOME. It had a small crisis with Messiah War, which honestly wasn't that good, but it's back on track :)

Dark Wolverine. Well I have to admit something... Although I HATE the fact that Daken is Logan's son, he is growing on me as a character and that has everything to do with his current storyline in this comic. Liu gave him more depth and made him a manipulating bastard you love to hate in a way. Still hating his connection with Wolverine though.

X-men: Forever. After 6 issues I can say that Claremont isn't at his best with this series. Despite some wtf stuff happening t's okay to read and entertaining.

New Avengers: Still a good read, but it's not as good as it used to be I think.

Wolverine: Weapon X. Pretty good series! I really like it so far (only 4 issues).

X-men Legacy & Uncanny X-men: I like the Utopia storyline. I do however dislike Fraction on this run. Also; WTF! Scott?

First of all; no grades for data analysis yet.

Sencondly; I'm officially dead right now.
After moving everything from Nijmegen to Kampen on saturday (which was hell due to the heat) I went back today to clean everything and to hand over the keys to my dormroom. I reckon I'm going to miss that place something fierce (especially when things at my parents' are messed up). Besides moving I still had to do a lot to get all my administration right for the new study next september. I think I'm almost finished with that now at least I hope I am. I'm reminded why I hate doing paperwork so much, such a hassle. Only need to go to the city coucil and change citizenship from Nijmegen to Kampen.
New chapter in my life right ahead, but first we're going on holiday to France (Pays de la Loire) leaving next friday :)

Tomorrow is the first part of the Data Analysis exam.
I'm really nervous about it :(
It will be the multiple choice part in which the answers are based on your own generated output. Yes, the output for which you barely got any feedback...
Like with PMB there was an online test to see how well you are on track and I scored an 8,3 there, so that gives me some hope.
Thursday is the PC-exam, which means I have to do 1) A Loglinear Regression Analysis 2) five different analyses (on a different dataset) 3)combine several excelfiles (with all kind of messed up data) into one SPSS datafile.
The first one will be easy, the third one will be doable, but the second one will be hard mostly because you have to choose those five analyses yourself and have them make sense at the same time.

Not looking forward to it at all...

Like my subjectline says; I don't have much to say.
I'm still working hard on Data analysis and while it's hard, it finally feels like I'm making a bit of progress. The prof. complimented me (through the studyadvisor) on my hard work, good questions and the way I respond and answer other students on Blackboard. He said he's confident I will make it :)
Besides DA I already did a lot of stuff from my to do list!

A bit more fun though is the Dutch Marveldatabase! It's a wiki so everyone can join. I already made articles for Itsu and Lady Deathstrike* and I'm planning to do some more.

While we're still in the totally-random-department I'd like to mention BJ (and his bro) bought a new car, so we are perfectly prepared for our weektrip to France next month. They're going to pick it up tomorrow :)

*dammit it seems the Deathstrike article was accidentally erased. Hopefully the admin can restore it, but rewriting it won't be a problem either because I enjoy doing it :)

Reading comics is so much fun!

I also bought a new bookcase for them, because, as you might recall, the old one was full. Now I have an Ikea 'Billy' of 80 cm wide and 202cm tall. It's huge! Big advantage of the Billy-system is that you can put glass doors into the bookcases whenever you want (or have the money for it).

The difference in size is amazing :) Lot's of space for new comics!
Oh most of the Marvel digests Marvel Adventures: Avengers are missing because BJ has them at the moment.
New comics this week:
Wolverine: First Class #15: Meh. Thor is ok, but the story was simply boring. I made the right choice to quit this series I think. This issue was the last or single to last one of my subscription.

Wolverine: Origins #36 : Seriously what a mess this comic is. Nothing makes sense and Daken is grating on my nerves. Argh! If this doesn't get better soon I'm gonna quit.

X-force #15 : Pretty cool, but I definitely have to get the Cable issues that go with it, because I hate missing out on a good story.

New Avengers #53: The quest for the new Sorcerer Supreme is pretty exciting. Spidey is funny as always.

Runaways #10 : When are they going to stop dumping the little girls with Logan. Dude... it's starting to creep me out a bit. (also last issue of my subscription I think.)

X-men Legacy #224: Interesting. Chuck finally made a decision about Danger and Rogue is taking a big step in trying to control her powers. Also: Gambit!

Wolverine #72: Old Man Logan is a cool story even if it's an Alternative Future. Too bad they're going to conclude it in a special instead of just the regular series.

(Wolverine #73: Got this one last week already (yeah, why Marvel did that is a mystery to me too) I loved the first day-to-day story. Like Yukio said: I wouldn't want to be Logan even if they paid me. )

So the evenings without computer aren't as bad as I expected (yet). I miss checking my email before going to bed & not being up to date about things the most. Yesterday I watched War of the Worlds on tv to kill the time, tonight NCIS & reading (Batman:Hush & Artemis Fowl). Tomorrow I have a Homunculus reunion and thursday BJ will visit. All in all I get through my internetless evenings just fine :)
Today I've spent the entire day working on Data Analysis and I'm finally making some progress. This trial & error set-up takes a LOT of time so I hope it wasn't all wasted on wrong answers.
Oh I passed Developmental Neuropsychology with an 8 so that's cool :) PMB marks will probably be up this week, I hope I did just as good on that.

In which Sabretooth shows up!

For previous parts and information go here

Two days after the interrogation by Mulder and Scully I get some news. It’s either good or bad, depending how you want to look at it. The DNA tests confirm that Sabretooth was at the scene at the time of the ‘accidents’ and seeing how I’ve been itching to get my hands on him, this could be the best excuse ever. The bad news is: Mulder, Scully and a whole lot more people will be after him as well, and as much as I want him locked up at the Raft, it means I have to get to him quick, if I want to get any info out of him.
I’ve asked Kurt to find out where Creed’s holing up, but apart from some police reports and scattered sightings nothing came from it. Cerebro won’t do a whole lot of good, given Weapon X enhanced shielding. In the meantime, there’s not much I can do. I’ve had dozens of hearings, talks and even another interrogation. I’m not a very social person to begin with and when I’m under a lot of stress -like at the moment- I get even less likeable. People are getting scared to be around me. Hell, even Ben dreads talking to me these last few days; I can tell by the way he eagerly jumps up to ‘do something important’ whenever I start to grumble. Not Chuck though, he sees right through me, like he does right now sitting across from me. I gulp down the last of my whiskey and check the place for potential threats once more. Just like the past hour, nothing’s changed except for the coming and going of several other customers.

“I’m worried about you, Logan.”

“I’m fine.”

“Are you? The stress of the trial, the session with Sarah Collins and now Sabretooth might be too much to handle all at once, even for you.”

“I’ll deal with it, just like always.”

“If by dealing with it, you mean ‘lashing out at people for no reason, fighting in bars and acting paranoid towards every stranger near you,’ then yes, you are.” The smile never reaches his eyes.

“Look, I’ve dealt with worse things in my life.”

“Yes, I realize that, but I will not sit idly by and let you hurt yourself or others, while I could’ve helped you deal with this.”

I stare into my empty glass, slowly twirling it around in my hand, waiting a few moments before I speak again. “You know I’m going after him, don’t you?”

“Will anything I just said or could say now make any difference?”

I look him in the eye.

“I was afraid so.” He sighs. “Be careful, Logan, whoever is behind this, they will not take it kindly if you get too close.”

“Don’t worry ‘bout me, Chuck. I’ll live. I always do.” With that I stand up and put on my battered leather jacket.

“I know. It’s the quality of that life I am worried about. Where are you going?”

“I’m just gonna drop some hints that I’m looking for him.” With that I leave Charles and go on a quest for Sabretooth.

***

As difficult to grasp as it is, Sabretooth does have some folks he considers ‘friends’. Of course they’re despicable pieces of shit who kiss his ass and who he probably uses to rip off money. The guy currently dangling from a fourth story window is the kind of person you find hustling drugs and women in seedy bars and alleys. Not my favorite people in the world.
He’s been hanging upside down for a while know, but refuses to answer my questions about Creed’s whereabouts. I’m getting fed up with this game and going by his kicking and screaming he is too.

“Lemme go, you motherfucker!” His head is flushed from the blood pooling up in his brain. I jostle him a bit more.

“Sure, just tell Creed I’m looking for him.” With that I let him go and listen satisfied to the nice splat he makes on the concrete below. By ‘dropping hints’ I really meant dropping hints. A low groan confirms he’s still alive enough to get the message across. Good.
I head back to the hotel, trusting Creed’s murderous instincts find me soon enough. I just need to thread carefully over the next few days. Creed’s not too worried about collateral damage, so I need him away from the public. I go to bed early, already feeling excited about the upcoming fight.

***

Unfortunately Creed’s more hell bent on killing me than I thought. I’ve barely been in bed for an hour and already I’m back on my feet.
People are screaming, panicking as Sabretooth works his way up to my floor, no doubt leaving victims with every step he takes. As much as I ached for a fight, this was definitely not what I had in mind. It’s the wrong time, the wrong place, and it’s altogether pretty fucked up.
Why is he here already? The injuries of the guy I dropped were damn serious and I just know it’s impossible that’s the reason he’s here right now. Hell, it’s been only two hours, the guy is probably barely conscious yet.
I don’t have time to think about it, though. The chaos surrounding us, Charles’ persistent voice in my head telling me to lure him away from the people, Creed’s malicious sneer, it’s all swirling around my head, suffocating my thoughts.
I back away into my room, knowing he will follow. Soon all noise fades, my vision blurs and all I can see is him.

“Hello, Runt.”

“Creed,” I snarl, ready to pounce.

“Guess you’d be interested in this, huh?” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a crumpled sheet of paper. He smoothes it slightly, then starts to read.

“Alcaraz, James. Benson, Jennifer. Collins, Sarah. Cornelius, Abraham.” He looks smug. “Ring any bells?”

“Where did ya get that?”

“Someone must’ve dropped it in front of my doorstep. Hey, it even has the locations of the people on trial.” He nonchalantly stuffs it back into his pocket.

It dawns on me slowly. The list, the trial to lure them out, the cover-ups… he thinks he’s doing it on his own, but instead they’re just using him… Using me.
We’re both set up. I open my mouth to tell him, but before I can say anything, he attacks. Pain centers in my chest as his claws rake across my ribs. All sanity goes and I strike back with all I have.

We’ve danced this dance many times before. It’s always the same. We slash and claw at each other until we’re both bloody and exhausted. Then one of us delivers the final blow and it’s over. For the time being…
This time is no different. We’ve been fighting for what seems like ages. My left side is burning were he slashed it open seconds ago, but it’s already healing and I try to ignore it. Several pieces of hotel furniture are lying broken and battered on the floor. I drive my claws into his chest with a growl and keep them there. When he tries to dislodge me by grabbing my wrists and bending them the wrong way, it only pushes my claws deeper into his flesh. I must’ve punctured one of his lungs because there’s blood coming from his mouth. The bitter coppery smell of it only fuels my anger and I push my claws in deeper. He sees that bending my wrists doesn’t work and he tries a different tactic; choking me to death. I don’t want to give in, but after a few minutes my vision gets black and I kick him hard in the chest so he has to release me. He hits me with such a force that I slam backwards against the wall. I look at him dazed; he’s coughing up blood now.
Yeah, definitely punctured a lung. I get to my feet unsteadily, leaning heavily on the wall. I feel my guts slowly getting back in place. The feeling is unnerving, yet disgustingly familiar. It hurts like hell.
Just as he’s about to strike again, I hold up my hand.

“Wait.”

He stops in his tracks and glares at me.

“What is it, runt? Can’t take it anymore?” He pops his neck, licks his claws and looks at me challenging.

“Shut up, Creed. Don’t ya see it? It’s them all over again!”

“What the hell are ya talking about?”

“Weapon X, Department K, Department of agriculture, whatever they call themselves nowadays.”

He looks at me incredulously, an expression you don’t see often on Victor Creed’s ugly mug and I’d laugh if the situation wasn’t so damn serious.

“That list ya found… Fuck…” I shake my head and rub my eyes.

“What? You think they’d…Shit.” He stalks around the room like a caged panther, cursing and growling.

I sit down against the wall with a groan, suddenly tired and empty. They did it again. They -fucking- did it again. They played us. Toyed with our lives. Screwed up our minds. Creed hits the wall in frustration and curses loudly. He grabs the list from his pocket, then discards it with a disgusted look. He knows.

“Fuck, runt, yer lying. I know yer fuckin’ lying through yer bleedin’ teeth.”

I simply look at him still breathing heavily. He turns, grabs a chair and shatters it against the door while letting out an earth shattering roar. I know I’d react exactly the same if I wasn’t so damn tired of this shit. I want to leave this behind; I thought I did long ago. Starting a new life with the X-men, fighting the good cause, be a hero instead of someone’s little research monkey boy.

Right, dream on, bub. Dream on.

I’m shaken out of my little bout of self-pity when I hear the distant hum of a helicopter nearing. Creed has heard it too and snarls threateningly, but doesn’t move. As we sit in mutual silence, with only the sound of our panting breaths and the humming of the helicopter coming closer, I wonder why he’s here besides trying to kill me. Maybe he wanted me to know about the list. Maybe he does have a part of him that actually cares. But as soon as that last thought enters my mind I discard it. From the moment I met the bastard, I knew he had no feelings, or a heart for that matter. Victor Creed has always been a psychopath and he’ll always be that way, no matter what.

The helicopter is closing in on us; the sound of its rotors, now almost deafening to my sensitive ears, muffles the howl of police sirens below us. Then the glare of a bright light suddenly blinds us through the large hotel room window and I have to squint my eyes to see anything.

The crackle of a megaphone is soon followed by an angry and authoritative voice.
“This is S.H.I.E.L.D. We’ve surrounded the place. Creed, walk out nice and slowly and keep your hands where we can see them.”

I have to laugh at that. They’re expecting him to walk out of this room just like that? God, you’ve gotta be kiddin’ me. Gotta talk to Fury about these clowns.

“Shit Creed, fuckin’ popular ain’t ya? Shouldn’t you be somewhere else by now?” I have to shout to be heard above the roar of the chopper.

“Fuck ‘em. Bring it on, you morons! I’m in the mood for a little brawling.”
A sickening snarl slowly forms on his ugly face and I hope Fury better know what he’s doing. Not wanting to be part of this crap, I retreat to the hallway of the now evacuated hotel, but not before I pick up the paper Creed just threw away. Just before I’m out, I shout loudly at him, knowing he’ll hear me.

“What the hell are ya doing here anyway?”

He turns and flashes that smug grin I know all too well.

“What? Ya didn’t forget, did ya? Happy birthday, runt!”

I can just make out his form jumping out of the window before rounds and rounds of ammo are fired at the room.

I found the following note taped to the door of the corridor below mine;

Dear Joost,

I am really sorry but deaf cat is dead.
We found another cat at the shelter and took it to Doornroosje [Rock/alt. music club] to make it deaf so you can't really tell the difference.
I hope that will not be a problem.

I still love you,

Emma

WTF!!!!
LMAO!!

You know what really annoys me about myself?
The overwhelming need to defend my favorite characters or movies I like (or in this case a combination of both). *sigh*

Note to self:
People differ in taste and opinion, wolvster, deal with it!
You love it, that's ok, don't worry about what other people think.
After writing down the whole Team X/Silver Fox/Psi-borg mess from the comics in Dutch your feelings are only confirmed. They did good!

Today I'm going to visit germelientje & Frank in their new place :)
