I thought Hugh's opening performance at the Oscar's was absolutely brilliant. I've never cared for the ceremony (never seen anything of it) and I don't really care for it now, but that opening was very cool to watch :)

More material from the Wolverine movie is now online. The first (out of three) tv-spot can be found here. SPOILERS!

My thoughts: looks good! They've taken some liberties when it comes to Origin, but I can understand why they'd do that. The whole Thomas/John/Elizabeth thing is vague enough and Dog resembles Sabretooth quite a bit, so it's not strange they chose to alter it like this. Storywise it's more practical.
I can certainly live with it.

In the SFX I bought saturday, Hugh stated they've taken some liberties with Deadpool as well, about which he said " [...] some fans might be pissed off, but that's okay. I think they'll understand why we took some creative licenses with him."
Lol, raging fanboys/girls ahead!!
Hopefully we'll see some of Deadpool in the next two spots.

To conclude this post I'm going to say what I've said before:
I'm as big a fan of comicbook Logan as they come, no doubt about it. Yet I love the movies as well. How? You might ask.
I keep the two separated. Movieverse and comicverse are two different things. Movieverse is just another AU, just like the cartoons are, meaning not everything has to be exactly the same as or according to the comics.
This attitude spared me a lot of grief over the years (my god, I sound old). If I get mad over everything that's been done to my favorite character both in comics and other media I'm gonna give myself an aneurysm...
So, my suggestion to all those uptight fanboys and - girls out there; Relax! Do just like me and enjoy the best of both worlds :)

Hugh Jackman teams with Virgin for new comic books
Tue Mar 25, 2008 3:30pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hugh Jackman, who plays the mutant Wolverine in the "X-Men" action movies, is pairing with Virgin Comics to create a comic book series called "Nowhere Man," Virgin said on Tuesday.

The series, a futuristic science-fiction odyssey set in an era when men have traded their privacy for safety and security, will be written by Jackman and Marc Guggenheim, who wrote Marvel comics' "Wolverine" series and "Amazing Spider-Man."

Australian actor Jackman said in a statement that the hope is "Nowhere Man" will be popular enough that it might later become a movie.

"X-Men" and other film series based on comic book characters such as "Spider-Man" and "Batman" have been among Hollywood's biggest hits for more than a decade.

Three films starting with "X-Men" in 2000 and including "X2: X-Men United" and "X-Men: The Last Stand" have sold more than $1.1 billion worth of tickets at worldwide box offices.

A fourth film, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," also featuring Jackman, is set to open in theaters next year.

I hope his motives go beyond 'I want to make another comicbookmovie' like this article seems to suggest, but I'm all for it!

*conveniently forgetting it was Guggenheim who had Logan regenerate from nothing but his bones in 5 minutes*

PS: Schoolwork still aint finished. Went to bed at 3 am. But methods homework isn't necessary anylonger (student tutor fell ill) so that's 2,5 hours to finish the last 15% of Magic :)

Beware: I will not use a LJ-cut no matter how hard you cry for it. It's too hot to hide behind a cut. There.

Flushed away:
- LMAO!! The Wolverine costume!! (I need a screencap of that)
- WTF? Where were the hamsters?
- Lol@ the slugs and le Frog

Verdict: really funny, great kids movie, but it missed the Shrek snarkiness.
