7th-May-2009 09:50 am - I'm an idiot
wolvster
You know what really annoys me about myself?
The overwhelming need to defend my favorite characters or movies I like (or in this case a combination of both). *sigh*

Note to self:
People differ in taste and opinion, wolvster, deal with it!
You love it, that's ok, don't worry about what other people think.
After writing down the whole Team X/Silver Fox/Psi-borg mess from the comics in Dutch your feelings are only confirmed. They did good!

Today I'm going to visit [info]germelientje & Frank in their new place :)
4th-May-2009 10:50 pm - Yup, pretty awesome!
Innocence- made by me
Just came back from my second viewing of Wolverine.
My opinion hasn't changed; I love it!
They made the right choices, compromised adequately between movie and comics and it fits perfectly in movieverse canon. (movieverse=/= comicverse, people) It's not as good as Iron Man, but it was very awesome nonetheless. It's fun, it has action, it has it's more emotional moments and the acting is fantastic! (I particularly love Liev's Sabretooth!)

I'm really happy with it :D

Oh I also went to the zoo with the family and BJ, which was fun. I'll post some pics later :)
1st-May-2009 03:19 pm - Woohoo!
wolvster
X-men Origins: Wolverine was awesome!
I loved it! Of course like with most comic to movie adaptations they had to take liberties with some stuff, but they did it the right way I think.

SPOILERS )

Conclusion: Good movie, accessible to the big public, but still pretty satisfactory for most comicbookreaders as well!
Going to watch it again on monday :) Already looking forward to it.
30th-Apr-2009 09:39 am - Hotel Atlantico
wolvster
Hotel Atlantico (the theatershow) was very good! I liked it a lot and to be honest, even with Wolverine in cinemas I wouldn't want to have missed it (dude...grammar! *cringe*). Paul Groot (I'm a big fan of him) was fantastic and so was Hajo Bruins. The other two were ok. Marc-marie Huibregts was basically playing himself. After the show BJ and I watched the Queensday parade, which is always fun.
We also booked tickets for Wolverine for next monday :)

Speaking of which; need to pach my bag and get ready for our Wolverine-meeting tonight! I'm so excited!!
22nd-Apr-2009 09:41 am - nervous wreck
wolvster
Ack! Just one more week... or would that be; one more week and one day.
I don't know what's worse at the moment; the anxiety for the PMB exam next wednesday or the excitement for the Wolverine movie thursday next week.
It's such a weird feeling >.<

I'm contemplating going to the cinema tuesday already by myself, but I'm not sure if that will ease my mind or make it worse. I need a straight head for the exam.
Wednesdaynight BJ and I have a theatershow (Hotel Atlantico) and thursday me and the ladies from hughjackman.nl & [info]tinkcph will go see Wolverine.

I keep telling myself; it's just a movie, chill out and relax, but that only works for a short while. Ugh I'm such an idiot!

Ok. Breathe in... study comes first! Final PMB workgroup in half an hour.

ETA: oh comicbookcounter is currently at 949. I'm guessing that particular New Year resolution isn't too impossible. That other one however...
2nd-Apr-2009 01:28 pm - Real girls like Wolverine
HoM Logan- made by me
The job thing has solved itself. Like [info]dutchxfan's icon said; let's not freak out until there is something concrete to freak out about. The guy called this morning (hello mister impatient) and I was still conducting research on him and his business. But considering I don't have my bachelor's degree and hardly have any experience in taking tests he called it off. (It was way more vague than that, but that's the gist of it.) Good, because it didn't sit well with me.

Then the Wolverine leak. NOT going to watch it. I'm not watching a movie that's not finished and has had several re-shoots. On top of that; I hate spoilers. I've said not to touch anything that wasn't officially released by Fox, Marvel or Hugh, so I won't.
Thereby I think Logan should be experienced in all his glory on the big screen.
I think you're a fool to watch it, but hey, your life, your opinion, your choice. Just DON'T spoil it for me, okay?

Tuesday I went to the city in Nijmegen and found an awesome T-shirt with the text: Real girls like Superheroes and a cool print of the classic Avengers on it. Too bad it was 50 euros. Seriously, WTF? Worst part; it was sold in one of those 'hip' stores, not even a comicstore and I think I don't exaggerate when I estimate that 95% of its customers doesn't even know who the Avengers are. *sigh*
9th-Mar-2009 04:45 pm - Blah
Nighthawk
My fever's down and a nasty cold remains so my mind isn't completely up to thinking again...

So Watchmen; I really liked it except that in the middle it felt too long, but it picked up pace after the break so that was good. I kind of missed the Newsman interludes, but I liked seeing him and the comickid a couple of times.
Rorscharch, Nite Owl II and The Comedian were very well cast! I loved them! The other characters? Hmm. Not sure. Ozymandias wasn't as bad as I expected him to be after I read some reviews and some opinions of you guys though.
The music was... good for the most part, but at some moments it was just awkward (that scene with Dr. Manhattan in Vietnam for example). However Dylan's The Times They Are A-Changing in the opening credits was pretty awesome (that whole scene was awesome).
The ending was possibly better than in the graphic novel, I'm still not sure about that.
I hated Bubastis in the book and I hate it even more in the movie I think.

Oh and my feverdreams tried to convince me that Jon Osterman and James Wilson (House MD) are somehow related and that I had to save the world from some evil plot they put together. Er...
O.o

ETA: Oh there was a mother with her sons (? son & friend? dunno) who were about 14 years old at the movie. Heh. I think she regretted that :P

Last friday I came down with the flu. Yesterday I tried to go to the shelter nevertheless, but could only stay an hour 'cause I felt too sick to continue. Spent the rest of the morning in bed. Then BJ and I went to see Watchmen. I'd rather have stayed in bed, but I really wanted to see Watchmen.
Watchmen was good! Not earth-shattering or brilliant or nearly as good as the graphic novel, but entertaining nonetheless. Will write more when my mind isn't muddled by fever anymore.

*feels sick*
5th-Mar-2009 03:56 pm - Deadpool/Cyclops/Wolverine-guy
wolvster
Ok the last trailer for X-men Origins: Wolverine (here) has me confused.

The thing that confuses me the most is
this guy )
Apparently he can mimic Deadpool's fighting techniques, Scott's eyebeams and Logan's claws.
I mean, WTF?
Looks scream: Caliban. 'Powers' scream: Mimic. Credits scream: Nothing...
Is this a new and (not so) improved version of Beak?

Or is it Weapon XI-movieverse, the combined forces all in one new and improved weapon? I think that's the most logical option.

I just don't know... *epic fandom fail on my part*

Then the whole 'did Cyclops and Wolverine meet before' question. I've got several theories on that, but I can't be sure.
18th-Feb-2009 08:23 pm - YES! Cyclops can!
Cyke
I was planning on writing something about Uni and stuff, but this is way more important.

This is what I said to [info]dutchxfan in the comments to one of my latest posts:

"As for Liev, I think he's perfect for the role. Everytime I read about Hugh and him trying to one up each other, trying to do it better and better, that's Logan and Victor all right.
They certainly have the right attitude for it.

Thereby, Sabretooth is a cold calculating sonuvabitch, he ain't stupid. Taylor Mane played him stupid, Liev is going to play him truly evil."

I really mean that. I think he's made for it. I've ran in some folks online who think he can't pull it off, his hair is to short or whatever blahblah. After seeing the material released, I just know he's gonna ROCK!

Then, of course, there's Cyclops.
People! Why all the Scott-hate? Sure it took me years to come out of the I-like-Scott-Summers-closet, but hey... he's really a cool guy.

For all you non-believers, check this out. Some context; Proteus (Moira's son) can alter reality, he escaped from his containment cells and the X-men are called for help. They fight, Proteus 'warps' reality and both Logan and Kurt get the brunt of it. Kurt can handle it ok (I imagine teleporting is somewhat similiar), Logan however is completely out of it. He's scared to death about going up against that kid again. Then Cyke steps in and basically slams the spirit back into the old Canuck.

Warning: BAD ASS leadership skills ahead!

After that he takes on half the team by himself. Tell me if that ain't courage and leadership. And that's just one example.
Sure he's full of emo and man-pain (that's [info]scans_daily's influence I guess. ETA: LMAO over the infamous 'Rockets from my Sockets' icon there), but he still rocks.
ETA: not nearly as much as Logan or Kurt though, that needs to be said.
He takes care of his people, you gotta respect that.

Heh, I'm feeling personally attacked by these and other comic-related issues. Maybe I'm taking this a bit too far...
